Care & Notes

For periodic cleaning: Wipe the fabric with a soft cloth lightly moistened with warm water. Wipe with a piece of cloth or paper afterwards, and let dry naturally.
Do not wash at home and do not immerse in water.
Note: Traditionally, yūzen-dyed fabric is rarely washed if at all. There are a few specialized services in Japan for those rare cases when such cleaning is deemed necessary. However, please be aware that different chemicals and washing methods are adopted in each country, and we cannot be sure that you will find a dry cleaning suitable for yūzen-dyed, hand-painted silk where you are located. If this helps, you may check that your trusted dry cleaning has the equipment necessary to treat delicate fabrics dyed using plant-based colors, and which include gold leaf. Although none of these materials are exceptionally delicate, particular care must be adopted to avoid causing discoloring or scratching of the paintings. Our recommendation is to consider this a special accessory for special occasions where the chances of it being stained or soiled are low.
